Goal: Design a comprehensive, double-sided promotional flyer for Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC) that highlights the transformative power of international education.
My Role: Lead Graphic Designer and Content Coordinator. Working directly with the Dean’s provided copy, I was responsible for the visual strategy, image curation, and the final production of the marketing collateral.
The Creative Concept: “The Duality of Learning”: The core design strategy was built around a visual comparison between traditional and experiential learning. I wanted to illustrate that an education at MWCC extends far beyond the campus borders.
- The Traditional Perspective: One side of the flyer focuses on the foundational college experience—featuring instructors and students in a classic classroom setting to represent academic rigor.
- The Global Perspective: The reverse side showcases the “real-world classroom.” I curated a mix of archival student travel photos and high-quality stock imagery—such as the waterfalls of Iceland—to represent hands-on learning in nature and global cultures.
- The Narrative: By placing these two worlds in conversation, the design argues that insights gained abroad offer a depth of understanding that simply cannot be replicated within four walls.
Technical Execution & Branding
- Brand Integrity: I ensured the design was strictly aligned with MWCC’s official branding, utilizing the college’s color palette, typography, and logo placement to maintain institutional trust and professional standards.
- Visual Hierarchy: With a significant amount of text provided by the Dean, I focused on creating a clean, readable layout that utilized white space and strategic image placement to prevent the reader from feeling overwhelmed.
- Software: Developed using Adobe InDesign for precise layout and Adobe Photoshop for image color correction and consistency between archival and stock assets.
The Result: A high-impact, professional flyer that effectively serves as a bridge between academic requirement and life-changing opportunity. The imagery creates a powerful emotional pull, successfully encouraging the student body to explore global citizenship through the MWCC Study Abroad program.
